Dr. H. Candice Yang earned her dental degree from Taipei Medical University at Taiwan and then completed a one-year hospital-based general practice residency at Cardinal Tien Hospital in New Taipei City. After the GPR program, she stayed in Taipei where she practiced as a general dentist before she enrolled in the Post-graduate Endodontic program at Boston University.
During her post-graduate Endodontic program in BU, Dr. H. Candice Yang obtained extensive training in both research and clinical aspects and published several articles regarding pulp stem cells and metastasis mechanism of oral cancer.
Dr. H. Candice Yang is an active member of the American Association of Endodontists and the American Dental Association. In 2015, she moved to Houston with her husband who is an assistant professor at Periodontics department in UT dental school. During her free time, she enjoys reading, baking, travelling, and spending time with her friends and family.
Dr. Ji Wook Jeong was born and educated in Seoul, South Korea. He earned Dental degree at Kyunghee University in Seoul, South Korea in 2001. He practiced at his private clinic for over ten years in Seoul and experienced a number of clinical cases and challenges as a general dentist. During practice, he put his effort in mainly endodontics and implant surgery.
Dr. Ji Wook Jeong obtained the credential associate fellowship of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) in 2008. Then he was teaching as an instructor for implant surgery at Maxicourse of AAID in South Korea. However, he wanted to improve his knowledge about Endodontics and then came over the US. Finally, he earned the postgraduate degree (MSD) and the specialty of Endodontics in the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Dentistry (UTHCS SOD) in 2017. He is the assistant professor of the UTHSC and also a member of “Contemporary Endodontics”.
Dr. Mei Tang grew up in Macau, China. After high school, she moved to the United States and completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Sciences at the University of California, Davis. She attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, earning her dental degree with honors. She completed a general practice residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. After moving to Richmond, Virginia, she completed her Endodontic specialty training, earning her Certificate in Endodontics and Master of Science in Dentistry degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.
During her residency, Dr. Mei Tang spent a significant portion of her time teaching dental students about root canal procedures. In addition, she participated in multiple mission trips to provide root canal treatment for underserved patients both locally in Virginia and abroad in Jamaica. She is an active member of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Endodontists.
Dr. Mei Tang also speaks Cantonese and Mandarin and finds satisfaction in helping her patients understand root canal procedures.
She recently moved to Houston with her husband. During her free time, she enjoys cooking, baking, tennis, and dancing.
Dr. David S. Wan grew up in Houston, Texas. He attended the University of Texas in Austin, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. He matriculated into the University of Texas Houston Dental Branch and graduated in the top of his class. He continued his education at UTDB and was awarded his specialty certificate in Endodon¬tics and a Masters in Science.
Dr. Wan has received extensive specialty training in diagnosis, root canal treatment, and microsurgery. He utilizes cutting-edge technologies and advanced techniques in root canal therapy. His armamentarium includes the use of the surgical microscope, rotary instrumentation, ultrasonics, thermoplasticized obturation, and Cone-beam computed tomography.
Upon graduation from his endodontic training, Dr. Wan was an associate in private practice in Dallas, TX before returning back to his roots in Houston, TX where he started Contemporary Endodontics in the Fall of 2010. Dr. Wan understands patients’ anxiety associated with root canal therapy. He has extensive training in conscious sedation to help provide a comfortable experience for his patients. He has created a tranquil environment in the practice setting with the number one goal of maintaining patient comfort. He has per¬formed over 10,000 root canal procedures and surgeries to date and continues to remain very passionate in the field of endodontics.
Dr. Wan is an active member of the American Association of Endodontists, and he is also a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. He enjoys spending quality time with his wife Angelina and two sons; Aiden and Ashton.
Dr. Han Na Cho graduated from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. Dr. Cho then earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia. After graduating from dental school, she completed a General Practice Residency (GPR) at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in New York and continued her education at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, where she earned her specialty certificate in Endodontics and a Master of Science in Dentistry degree.
During her endodontic residency, Dr. Cho received the American Association of Endodontist Foundation’s (AAEF) competitive research grant to pursue a project on the effects of COVID-19 on the dental pulp tissue. She was awarded the highest-scored research proposal and was featured in the AAEF’s 2021 Winner’s Circle. During the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) 2022 Annual Meeting in Phoenix, AZ, Dr. Cho was awarded 1st place in the AAE Resident Research Award for her project on dual-RNA sequencing.
With a passion to stay connected with her specialty, Dr. Cho also served on the Resident Expert Advisory Council (REACH) composed of 10 residents representing a broad cross-section of the resident community. Dr. Cho is an American Board of Endodontics eligible endodontist and is currently an active member of the American Association of Endodontists, American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association and Greater Houston Dental Society.
Dr. Cho believes the ability to help patients get out of pain with endodontic therapy is the most rewarding aspect of her profession, and she enjoys getting to know her patients, and making sure her patients feel comfortable and involved during the entire process. On the days away from the office, Dr. Cho enjoys spending time with her family and friends, trying new restaurants and coffee shops with her fiancé, and catching up on Korean drama.
Dr. Joyce Nazzal moved to Texas in 1999 and obtained her B.S. in Biology from the University of Texas – Arlington in 2003. In 2007, Dr. Nazzal earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental Branch in Houston, Texas. She completed a one-year hospital residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center and received a General Practice Residency certification where she concentrated on the management of the medically compromised patient, IV sedation, Implant placement and operating room dentistry. After practicing general dentistry in Houston for a few years, Dr. Nazzal pursued her passion for endodontics and was accepted to the Indiana University School of Dentistry fellowship program. She completed the two-year endodontics program in 2011, where she was awarded her specialty certificate in Endodontics and received a Master of Science in Dentistry. Dr. Nazzal received extensive specialty training in diagnosis, root canal treatment and root canal microsurgery.
Dr. Nazzal subsequently returned to Houston, where she has been in private practice for over ten years. She is currently a member of the American Dental Association and American Association of Endodontics, and she is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics.
Dr. Nazzal maintains a strong commitment to continued education in endodontics. In addition to growing her practice, she is married with two beautiful children and enjoys spending time with her family. She has a passion for the arts, especially oil painting, fitness, cooking and travel.
